FAQ & Practice Tips

What is an ensemble?

An ensemble is the music group you are playing in. For example: 6th Beginning Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band.

Where can I find classroom information?

Google Classroom or ParentSquare.

How much should my student be practicing?

I understand we all have busy schedules. I design my instruction to help students develop solid habits and practice routine. The same model can be done at home: 15 minutes for beginners and up to 1 hour for more advanced players, 2–3 times a week, is generally a good time frame.

How should I be practicing?

Students should follow the structure of our class and also spend time on music they want to learn. There are many resources—ask me about them! Using a timer is really helpful, and if you feel fatigued, take a break!

What should I do if I have questions?

Ask! Never a bother!

Where should I get materials?

Meeker Music, Music & Arts, and Graner Music will have all your instrument essentials. Be careful ordering online; feel free to confirm with me prior to any purchases.

Consider private lessons! They are great, and your local music store keeps a great list of options.
